The Uganda Cranes will don a special edition jersey featuring the FUFA centenary logo in their crucial AFCON 2025 qualifier against South Sudan, following approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The logo, marking 100 years of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), will be displayed prominently on the front of the shirts, positioned above the players’ numbers and between the FUFA and kit manufacturer Janzi logos.
The commemorative logo, which was unveiled by FUFA President Moses Magogo Hassim during the 100th Ordinary General Assembly on October 4, 2024, at Maya Nature Resort in Wakiso, symbolizes a century of Ugandan football. The special badge will be featured on the Cranes’ matchday kits throughout the ongoing TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 qualification campaign.
FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein confirmed that the Cranes will first wear the centenary-themed jerseys during their clash with South Sudan on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole.
The stakes are high as the Cranes prepare for this pivotal two-legged tie against their northern neighbors. A win in both the home match on October 11 and the return fixture on Tuesday, October 15, would secure Uganda’s place in the AFCON finals, set to take place in Morocco next year.
Heading into this doubleheader, the Cranes have accumulated four points in their campaign, thanks to a 2-2 draw with South Africa and a 2-0 victory over Congo Brazzaville back in June. As the team steps onto the pitch with their special centenary kits, they aim to honor FUFA’s storied history and move closer to a spot in the continental showdown.
