FIXTURES

Wednesday, February 1

Apuutun FC v Police FC (2pm)

Kireka United v SC Villa (4pm)

TUESDAY’S RESULTS:

Bujumbura United 0(1) Vipers 0(4)

Busei FC 3(5) Jinja North 3(6)

Nine-time Uganda Cup winners SC Villa kick off their campaign in this year’s tournament against lower division Kireka United today, February 1.

Kireka United will host this encounter at Kings Park in Bweyogerere.

SC Villa head coach Jackson Magera is optimistic his team will do well in the knockout tournament.

Speaking at a pre-match media briefing on Tuesday, Magera stated: “It has been a while now since we last played a competitive game and the Uganda Cup game against Kireka will be a perfect test for our players.

“We broke off in what I would call a fair run of form in the league and we want to see the response of the players.”

He added: “The Stanbic Uganda Cup provides us with a perfect chance to win silverware I know it is still in the initial stages but we shall not take the game against Kireka for granted.”

In the other match scheduled for Wednesday, North Eastern Region outfit Apuutun will host FUFA Big League side Police FC at Tubur Primary School playground in Soroti.

Meanwhile, Vipers SC, the losing finalists last season, squeezed into the round of 32 on Tuesday, January 31 after eliminating lower division Bujumbura United in a 4-1 penalty-shoot-out victory.
