Newly-crowned Uganda Professional Boxing Commission (UPBC) super middleweight champion Shadir Musa Bwogi swept the best performing sportsman awards for January after winning the Fortebet Real Stars accolade on Tuesday, February 7.

Bwogi, a former national team pugilist and 2020 Olympian, was voted for the Real Stars’ award following his knockout victory over Ivan Magumba last month. He stopped Magumba in the first of the 12-round scheduled bout.

This is Bwogi’s second award in less than 48 hours. On Monday February 6, the picked up Nile Special Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) sports personality for the month of January after being voted by sports journalists.

To win the Real Stars award, Bwogi beat off competition from fellow boxers Yusuf Babu and Abdul Aziz Ssebulime.

Commenting on his awards’ double triumph Bwogi stated: “This is very humbling because it shows that people have appreciated the hard work and effort that I put in. It will only make me work harder so that I can grow my career.”
