KAMPALA — Gifted left-back Mustafa Kizza, renowned for his lethal left foot, has landed a new opportunity in Egypt’s football scene. Kizza, known for his ability to influence both defense and attack, recently signed a two-year contract with Telecom Egypt Sporting Club, signaling a fresh start in his career. This move comes after brief talks with Express FC, where Kizza had initially signed a one-year deal following his departure from KCCA FC as a free agent. Despite making only three appearances for Express FC, the offer from Telecom Egypt Sporting Club quickly materialized, leading to successful negotiations.

Kizza took to his X account to confirm the transfer, saying, “TO THE NEW BEGINNINGS. Ladies and gentlemen, our new home is Egyptian side Telecom FC. May Allah take control of this new chapter.”

Kizza’s journey began at KCCA FC’s Academy in 2015, and after a loan stint with Maroons FC, he returned to KCCA’s senior squad in 2017. His breakout 2019/2020 season saw him net five goals and provide 12 assists in 19 appearances, helping KCCA FC reach the CAF Champions League group stages. His performance in Africa’s elite competition, with four goals and four assists, caught the eye of international scouts.

This success led Kizza to a stint with CF Montréal in Major League Soccer (MLS), where he played alongside Kenyan star Victor Wanyama. Kizza then moved to Portugal’s Primeira Liga with FC Arouca, competing against European giants like Benfica, FC Porto, and Sporting Lisbon. After a brief spell back at KCCA and Express FC, his transfer to Egypt marks a pivotal moment in his career.

With clubs like Wydad Casablanca and Club Africain showing interest, Kizza chose Telecom Egypt Sporting Club for his next challenge. He hopes to make a lasting impact in the Egyptian league and reclaim his spot on the national team, where he has earned 10 caps and scored four goals.
