Sunday, June 18@6pm

Uganda v Algeria

The battle to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Finals rages on Sunday, June 18, with focus on Group F where Uganda Cranes will take on Algeria while Tanzania host Niger in the penultimate round of qualifiers.

Algeria, the former African champions have already qualified as the Group F winners (with 12 points from four matches so far), leaving the East African neighbours Uganda and Tanzania to battle for the runners-up slot that guarantees automatic qualification.

Going into Sunday’s games, Uganda and Tanzania are tied on four points apiece.

The Uganda Cranes, who will host Algeria in Douala, Cameroon due to lack of CAF-approved stadium, cannot afford to slip up.

Interestingly, the Cranes will play two hours after the Tanzania versus Niger game, which kicks off at 4pm in Dar es Salaam.

Addressing the pre-match media conference on Saturday, June 17 at Japoma stadium in Douala, Uganda Cranes’ skipper Emma Okwi emphasized the importance of the game.

“We know how big this game is against Algeria. We want to get a good result on Sunday. It won’t be easy but we shall fight for the three points,” Okwi stated.

Beyond Kyankwanzi Lies Uganda’s Next Public Service Revolution

    By Kalikumutima DeoJune 19, 20260

Uganda has spent decades developing policies and reform strategies, but citizens judge government differently—by whether services are delivered efficiently and fairly. A new commentary argues that the country’s next phase of transformation must focus on faster service delivery, accountability, meritocracy and a citizen-first culture if public trust and economic growth are to improve.
