Uganda champions Vipers SC will battle Morocco giants Raja Casablanca on Friday, February 10 in their first match of the money-spinning group stage of the CAF Champions League.
The game is scheduled for Friday night (10pm East Africa Standard Time) in Casablanca.
While Vipers are playing for the first in this money bracket of the competition, Raja have won the tournament three times in the past.
That explains why Vipers, coached by Brazilian Bianchi Beto, face an uphill task in Casablanca on Friday.
However, Vipers, who flew out of the country on Wednesday, are confident of getting a positive result. “We are not going there to lie down and let them beat us; we shall be in the battlefield as fighters,” Beto stated before his team departed.
Vipers are pooled in Group C with Raja Casablanca, Horoya AC and Simba SC of Tanzania. After playing against Raja, Vipers will host Simba on February 18 at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
KCCA EXTENDS LEAGUE LEAD TO FIVE POINTS
Meanwhile, KCCA FC extended their lead to five points on top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after beating Wakiso Giants 1-0 on Thursday, February 9.
Rogers Mato scored the solitary winner for KCCA at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakiso.
The Lugogo-based side now has collected 32 points from 15 games. Second-placed BUL FC, who play Blacks Power FC on Friday (February 10) have 27 points from 14 games.
The league continues on Friday, February 10 with former champions Express FC hosting army side UPDF FC at the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
