Vipers’ Bianchi makes Uganda Cup debut as holders BUL FC progress

Vipers’ newly-appointed Brazilian coach Beto Bianchi will make his competitive debut on Tuesday, January 31 when the Venoms play against Bujumbura United in the Stanbic Uganda Cup match.

Bianchi, who recently replaced compatriot Roberto Oliviera at the Kitende-based side, is widely tipped to win his first game against lower division Bujumbura United.

The round-of-64 game will be played at Kibajwa Primary School ground in Hoima district.

Vipers last won the Uganda Cup trophy in 2021 under Oliviera. They lost the final to BUL FC last season.

In the other scheduled games on Tuesday, Jinja North United will play against Busei FC at Iganga Ssaza ground while Calvary FC visit Budondo United at Budondo sub-county playground.

BUL PROGRESS

Meanwhile, Cup holders, BUL FC, progressed into the round-of-32 after beating lower division Sparks SC 1-0 on Monday, January 30. Hillary Onek scored the sole winner for BUL in the second half game played at Kirondo playground in Mukono.

Ndejje University also booked their place in the round-of-32 after beating Nitinda United 3-1 on Monday.
