Back to the Pitch: FUFA Women’s League Returns for High-Stakes Weekend

KAMPALA – After a two-week pause for the Crested Cranes’ international tour, the Finance Trust Bank Women Super League roars back into action this weekend with an exciting slate of matchups. The Crested Cranes impressed on their tour of the Democratic Republic of Congo, claiming two victories—2-1 and 3-1—over the DRC in back-to-back friendlies. Now, players are returning to their clubs, refreshed and ready to resume league play on Saturday, November 2.

Adding to the excitement, Finance Trust Bank has launched the first-ever Monthly Awards to honour standout performances in the league, with the inaugural round recognizing achievements from Matchdays 1 to 4 in October. Contenders for Player of the Month include Kawempe Muslim’s Agnes Nabukenya and Josephine Nambuya, along with Uganda Martyrs’ Angel Kigongo. The Coach of the Month race sees Kiyingi Ayub (Kawempe), Bulega Faridah (Amus College), and Nyanzi Medhi (Lady Doves) in the running.

Key Fixtures to Watch

  • She Corporate vs. Makerere University: This Sunday’s derby at MUBS is set to be a fan-favorite, promising a fierce battle on the field.
  • Kampala Queens vs. Rines: Kampala Queens return to Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Saturday, facing Rines in their first match since head coach Charles Ayiekoh’s departure.
  • Kawempe Muslim vs. Amus College: The defending champions, undefeated with four consecutive wins, head to Amus College on Sunday in search of their fifth straight victory.

As teams return to the pitch, fans will be watching closely to see if Kawempe Muslim can continue their winning streak and how Crested Cranes players carry their international form into the league. This weekend promises high-stakes action and intense rivalries as clubs fight to climb the standings.
