Pressure Mounts On Vipers’ Bianchi As Fans Demand Brazilian’s Exit

Vipers’ new coach Beto Bianchi is under pressure following the club’s unconvincing performance in the recent matches handled by the Brazilian.

Bianchi, who replaced compatriot Roberto Oliveira in January this year, has so far handled five games in which Vipers have lost once, drawn and won twice apiece, but without single a single goal in open play.

Under Bianchi, Vipers suffered their heaviest defeat in recent years after a 0-5 loss to Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League on February 10.

The Venoms, as Vipers are nicknamed, drew goal-less with Guinea Conakry’s Horoya AC on February 18 in another CAF Champions League tie and picked up a similar result against Wakiso Giants in the Uganda Premier League game on February 21.

Their only wins under Bianchi came through post match penalties against lower division sides Bujumbura United (5-4) and Jinja North United (7-6) in the Stanbic Uganda Cup games.

During Tuesday’s match against Wakiso Giants at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende, a section of home fans demanded Bianchi’s exit by displaying placards with messages that the Brazilian should be sacked.

Bianchi’s next match is against Simba SC of Tanzania in the CAF Champions League this Saturday, February 25.

Ironically, Simba will be led by Oliveira, who returns to Kitende on the opposing bench just two months after leaving the Venoms.
