Uganda She Cranes v Wales
In a bid to save their World Cup title ambitions, Uganda’s national netball team, She Cranes, will take on Wales in a must-win game on Wednesday, August 2 at the Convention Center in Cape Town, South Africa.
This is after the She Cranes lost 49-61 to Jamaica on Monday, July 31 in their first game of the second stage of the world event.
Generally, the She Cranes had an impressive start to their campaign by beating Singapore (79-37) and Trinadad & Tobago (74-33) and lost 44-54 to New Zealand in the first group phase.
They advanced to the second group stage as one of the top eight teams battling for the semifinal slots.
However, the Ugandan girls faltered as they lost to Jamaica on Monday. They must beat Wales on Wednesday and South Africa, the tournament hosts, on Thursday (August 3) if they are to make it to the semifinals for the first time.
Speaking on Tuesday, She Cranes coach Fred Mugerwa insisted that his team is capable of bouncing back to winning ways.
Mugerwa stated that Wales and South Africa are familiar opponents whom the She Cranes have beaten in the past engagements.
