For many guests, it wasn’t just a Saturday outing; it was a memory, one that would linger, just like the soft glow of Dim The Lights, until the next druncheon comes around.

KAMPALA – The afternoon sunbathed Dim The Lights Restaurant in a warm glow as guests streamed in, dressed in weekend ease and anticipation. Inside, the October edition of the Vintage & Nu Beats Druncheon was already in motion, a blend of laughter, clinking glasses, and the unmistakable hum of good music and even better company.

From the first note to the last bite, it was clear this wasn’t just another Kampala brunch. The restaurant, decked in muted lights and rustic decor, felt like a cozy escape from the city’s buzz. Long tables were laid with crisp linens and minimalist centerpieces, while the air carried the irresistible aroma of grilled meats and spices. Conversations rose and fell in rhythm with the background music, soft vintage tunes that would later give way to pulsing 90s beats.

The menu was an adventure in itself. From Caesar beef and fruit salads to grilled chicken, sticky pork ribs, and baked eggs goulash, the dishes celebrated both comfort and creativity. Mexican rice and grilled vegetables brought color to every plate, while cocktails, expertly mixed, paired perfectly with the savory courses.

When dessert arrived, the room fell briefly silent. Plates of chocolate and orange cake and scoops of vanilla and Oreo ice cream had guests smiling like children.

“The food was incredible,” said one guest, leaning back in satisfaction. “It wasn’t just eating, it was a full experience for the senses. The lighting, the music, the vibe… everything worked.”

Beats and Good Vibes

As dusk turned to evening, the DJs took over. DJ Gilbert and Kenny guided the mood effortlessly, moving from smooth 90s R&B to the familiar bounce of dancehall classics and new-school hits. Some guests stayed seated, swaying with half-empty glasses in hand; others gave in to the rhythm, carving out impromptu dance floors between tables.

“It didn’t feel like just a meal, it felt like a celebration,” said David Okello, another attendee. “The way the food, music, and people came together… you just didn’t want it to end.”

The Vintage & Nu Beats Druncheon, organized in partnership with the world-famous single malt brand, has quickly built a reputation as one of Kampala’s most refreshing social experiences — a space where food, music, and community converge.

This month’s edition drew a mix of families, couples, and groups of friends, all united by a shared appetite for good taste and good company. Between bites and beats, there was laughter, toasts, and the kind of easy connection that only happens when everything just clicks.

By nightfall, as the last tracks faded and candles flickered low, guests lingered, reluctant to leave, still trading smiles over empty plates and half-finished cocktails.

For many, it wasn’t just a Saturday outing; it was a memory, one that would linger, just like the soft glow of Dim The Lights, until the next druncheon comes around.
