With a remarkable tally of eleven goals so far, Omedi’s prowess was on full display when he opened the scoring in Kitara’s 3-0 thrashing of former champions URA FC at Masindi Stadium on March 14. Teammates Jude Ssemugabi and Livingstone Kabon contributed to the rout, solidifying Kitara’s position atop the league with 43 points.
The very next day, Omedi’s sensational form was rewarded with the Pilsner League Player of the Month award, an impressive feat for a top-flight newcomer. Omedi, known for his cool demeanor despite his rising fame, relishes the thrill of goal-scoring. “I enjoy scoring goals in every game, and it’s really fun for me,” he shared post-match.
The 27-year-old striker, known for his lightning pace and versatility on both wings, has been a defensive nightmare in the league. Before his stint with Kitara FC, Omedi demonstrated his scoring talent at Booma FC, netting 14 goals last season. His dynamic synergy with teammates Kabon, Brian Ahebwa, Paul Mucurezi, and Ssemugabi has made Kitara’s attack one of the most formidable in the league.
Omedi’s prowess hasn’t gone unnoticed beyond club football, as he caught the eye of Uganda Cranes coach Paul Put, earning him a spot on the national team. Though yet to score in his three national caps, Omedi is poised for success in the upcoming friendlies against Comoros and Ghana. His burgeoning career is a testament to his hard work and skill, making him a player to watch both on the home front and internationally.
