Following their 3-3 draw in the first leg game, Uganda’ women national football team, the Crested Cranes take on their Rwandan counterparts, She-Amavubi, in the decisive return leg match of the 2024 Olympic Qualifier on Sunday, July 16 at the Pele Stadium in Kigali.

She-Amavubi, who were widely considered the pre-match underdogs, held the Crested Cranes to a 3-3 draw in the first leg game on July 12 at the same venue.

The Crested Cranes were the home team in that game after Uganda opted to host the game in Kigali due lack of CAF-approved stadia in the country at the moment.

They, however, surrendered the lead twice to the She-Amavubi in the six-goal thriller.

The result set the tone for Sunday’s decisive game whose winner will advance into the next stage of qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games due in Paris, France.

Both Uganda and Rwanda women have never featured in the Olympic football finals; so, the stakes are high for either side.

Behind Uganda’s Boom: The World Bank’s Gloomy Warning Sign

By TALENT ATWINE MUVUNYIOctober 7, 20250

Uganda’s economy is growing faster than most in the region, but the World Bank’s latest Uganda Economic Update warns that cracks are forming beneath the surface. While GDP has surged nearly 7% this year, weak tax collection, rising debt, and underfunded social services threaten to stall the country’s momentum. The Bank says Uganda must rethink how it raises—and spends—its money if the promise of growth is to reach ordinary citizens.
