Uganda Cranes lost 0-1 to DR Congo in an international friendly match played Wednesday (June 14) at the Japoma stadium, Douala in Cameroon.

Despite the defeat, Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic insisted his side is ready for Sunday’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Algeria.

The Cranes will face Algeria on Sunday, June 18 in the Group F qualifier, which is a must-win for Uganda if they are to qualify for the continental finals due next year in Ivory Coast.

Uganda Cranes opted to host its home game against Algeria in Cameroon due to lack of CAF-approved stadia in the country.

Going into the Group F penultimate game, the Cranes are third with four points from four games.

In their qualifier, the Cranes beat Tanzania 1-0 in Dar es Salaam on March 28, 2023.

They need to beat Algeria (who have already qualified as group winners) and Niger in the last qualifier on September 13 to make it to the AFCON Finals.

Beyond Kyankwanzi Lies Uganda’s Next Public Service Revolution

    By Kalikumutima DeoJune 19, 20260

Uganda has spent decades developing policies and reform strategies, but citizens judge government differently—by whether services are delivered efficiently and fairly. A new commentary argues that the country’s next phase of transformation must focus on faster service delivery, accountability, meritocracy and a citizen-first culture if public trust and economic growth are to improve.
