The national senior football team, the Uganda Cranes, arrived in Cameroon on Friday, June 9 to prepare for their crucial 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group F qualifier against Algeria.
The Cranes are scheduled to play Algeria on June 18 in Douala, Cameroon where Uganda opted to host her home games due to lack of CAF-approved stadia in the country.
In an interview on Thursday, Ahmed Hussein Marsha, the local football governing body, FUFA, Spokesman, disclosed that the Cranes will camp in Douala to acclimatize and play DR Congo in a friendly match on June 14 as part of their preparations for the crucial game against Algeria.
Going into the Group F penultimate game, the Cranes are third with four points from four games.
In their last qualifier, the Cranes beat Tanzania 1-0 in Dar es Salaam on March 28, 2023.
They need to beat Algeria (who have already qualified as group winners) and Niger in the last qualifier on September 13 to make it to the AFCON Finals due next year in Ivory Coast.
