Former champions SC Villa could go top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, for at least 24 hours, if they beat Busoga United in one of the scheduled games on Friday, March 31.
Villa, who last won the league title in 2004, are currently second on the 15-team table with 34 points from 18 games.
The Jogoos, as Villa are fondly nicknamed by their fans, trail leaders KCCA FC by just one point.
Victory over Busoga United at the Kakindu stadium in Jinja could see the Jogoos ascend to the top of the league for at least 24 hours as KCCA play Maroons on Saturday, April 1.
However, relegation-threatened Busoga United (in 12th position with 18 points from 18 games) are unpredictable whenever they come up against top teams. In their recent game, they beat former champions URA 2-1 at home. That means Villa should not take them for granted in Friday’s game.
In the other games scheduled for Friday, former champions Express FC host bottom Onduparaka FC at Wankulukuku while Wakiso Giants entertain UPDF FC, the army side at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium.
Meanwhile, Arua Hill defeated Blacks Power FC 2-0 in a game played on Thursday, March 30 at the Barifa stadium. After this victory, Arua Hill moved to the fifth position with 26 points from 18 games.
