FIXTURES:

Wednesday, February 15@4pm:

Jinja North United v Vipers

Mbale Heroes v Bright Stars

Mbarara City v Admin

Following their 5-0 humiliation by Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League last weekend, Vipers will be seeking to recover against lower division Jinja North United in the Stanbic Uganda Cup match slated for Wednesday, February 15 at Kakindu stadium.

The game is one of the three fixtures in the knockout tournament’s round-of-32 with keen interest.

Victory is all coach Bianchi Beto’s Vipers need to bounce back before their next Champions League match against Tanzania’s Simba SC on Sunday, February 19.

In the last round, however, Vipers edged Kitara regional side Bujumbura United 3-1 on penalties after a goalless draw in normal time. Jinja North United also needed penalties to eject Busei 5-6 after a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Bright Stars, meanwhile, will also be a way to Mbale Heroes at Mbale Municipal stadium.

Coach Asaph Mwebaze believes his Bright Stars’ side strong performance against Nakapelimen in the round-of-64 will motivate them further coming into the game against Mbale Heroes.

“We have had enough rest from when we last played in Moroto and the players are eager to go again,” Mwebaze said in reference to Bright Stars’ 8-0 thrashing of Nakapelimen.

“It was a strong victory and it will motivate us as we face Mbale Heroes though I believe they will be stronger than our last opponents,” Mwebaze added.

The other game will be between Mbarara City and Admin. In the round-of-64, Mbarara ejected Tawai 1-0 while Admin eliminated Northern Gateway 5-1.
