The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has extended the deadlines for the submission of Continuous Assessment (CA) scores for Senior Four (UCE) and Senior Three learners under the New Lower Secondary Curriculum (NLSC). In a statement released yesterday, UNEB announced that October 30, 2024, is the new deadline for Senior Four candidates to submit their CA scores, while Senior Three learners must submit theirs by November 15, 2024. The statement emphasized that candidates without CA scores will not be graded.

The UNEB statement, issued by Jennifer N. Kalule-Musamba, Principal Public Relations Officer, highlighted the importance of submitting coursework and project work for all subjects. “For the New Lower Secondary Curriculum, coursework scores should be submitted for all the subjects offered by the candidate, as well as project work. Candidates without project work and CA scores in any of the subjects offered shall not be graded. UCE Transitional candidates are NOT required to submit course scores,” the statement noted.

For UACE (Senior Six) candidates, UNEB has granted a grace period until October 15, 2024, following the initial deadline of September 30. Schools submitting CA scores during this grace period will face a surcharge of UGX 50,000 per candidate. Affected Head Teachers are required to write a letter to the UNEB Executive Director, explaining the delay in submission. The letter, along with a CD containing the CA scores, should be submitted to UNEB’s CA offices in Kyambogo, where an invoice will be issued.

UNEB made it clear that no UACE CA scores will be accepted after the October 15 deadline and that candidates without CA scores will not be graded. Heads of Centres are urged to take note of the new deadlines and submit the scores on time.

UNEB announced the schedule for the upcoming examinations, which will be conducted under the theme “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment.” The exams will take place on the following dates:

  • UCE (New Lower Secondary Curriculum): October 11 to November 8, 2024
  • UCE (Transitional): October 11 to November 15, 2024
  • PLE: November 4 to 7, 2024
  • UACE: November 8 to December 6, 2024
