Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic named the final squad of 23 players who will play Niger in the final game of the group qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) this week.
Niger hosts Uganda Cranes at the Grand Stade Marrakech, Morocco on Thursday, September 7.
Like Uganda, the West African nation currently does not have a CAF-approved stadium, hence resorting to host their home games in Morocco.
The Uganda Cranes squad that flew out of the country on Saturday night includes goalkeepers Isima Watenga, Salim Omar Magoola, Nafian Alionzi; defenders Kenneth Semakula, Elvis Bwomono, Abdu Aziizi Kayondo, Isaac Muleme, Halidi Lwaliwa, Bevis Mugabi, Musa Ramathan, Joseph Ochaya; midfielders Khalid Aucho, Bobosi Byaruhanga, Taddeo Lwanga, Milton Karisa, Laban Tibiita, Faruku Miya, Ibrahim Kasule and Moses Waiswa.
The forwards are Rogers Mato, Fahad Bayo, Richard Basangwa and Frank Ssebufu.
The Cranes need to win their game against Niger and pray that Tanzania loses to Algeria in the other group game, which will be played on the same day.
Going into the game against Niger, the Cranes are third in Group F with four points. The Cranes can still qualify for the AFCON finals if they beat Niger and pray that Algeria defeat Tanzania on the same day.
Algeria tops the group with 15 points and have already qualified for the tournament finals to be staged in Ivory Coast next year.
Tanzania are second with seven points while Niger lie bottom of the group with just two points from five games.
