The Uganda She Cranes certainly have a score to settle with South Africa who denied them a place in the semifinals of the ongoing 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town.
On Thursday, August 4, the She Cranes narrowly lost 50-52 to South Africa in a match that the Ugandans girls were expected to win and qualify for their maiden World Cup semifinal.
So, it will be a revenge mission for the She Cranes when they meet South Africa again on Sunday, August 6 in a classification game for the fifth and sixth places.
This followed Saturday’s victories for the She Cranes and South Africa over Malawi and Tonga respectively. The She Cranes defeated Malawi 57-46 while South Africa, the tournament hosts, outclassed Tonga 72-46.
In Sunday’s game, the She Cranes aim to finish the tournament in a respectable fifth place by beating South Africa and better their record, which stands at eighth finish during the 2019 edition in Liverpool, England.
The She Cranes have thus far put up an impressive show in Cape Town by beating Singapore, Trinadad & Tobago, Wales and only lost to New Zealand and Jamaica.
