SEMIFINAL RESULTS:

Senegal 1 Madagascar 0

Algeria 5 Niger 0

On Saturday, February 4, it will be Senegal playing Algeria in the final of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algiers.

Senegal out-muscled Madagascar in the 1-0 victory of the second semifinal match played on Tuesday (January 31) in Algiers.

Pape Diallo headed in the winning goal in the first half of the closely-contested game.

The Senegalese used their physical superiority and pace to outfox the Malagasy team, which has been the most entertaining side in the tournament.

In the earlier semifinal game, tournament hosts, Algeria, thrashed Niger 5-0 to reach the final. They are now overwhelming favorites to win their maiden CHAN trophy.

Aimen Mahious scored two of Algeria’s five goals in the match.

Madagascar and Niger will contest for the bronze medal in the losers’ match on Friday, February 3.
